İsmail Gülmez

İsmail Gülmez holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Turkish Naval Academy (Türk Deniz Harp Okulu), a master's degree in Operations Research from Columbia University in New York, and a second master's degree in National and International Security Strategy Management and Leadership from the Turkish Naval War College (Türk Deniz Harp Akademisi). He graduated first in his class from the Naval Military High School (Deniz Askeri Lisesi) and second in his class from the Naval Academy. Having served on frigates in the Turkish Naval Forces up to the rank of staff lieutenant commander (kurmay binbaşı), Gülmez went on, after his service, to publish on military-strategic subjects concerning the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and the Russia–Ukraine War. In 2026 he received a bachelor's degree in Nautical Science and Maritime Transport from the Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences in Germany; he is married and a father of two.
